milengo Inc. launches client portal to streamline Project Workflow
Barcelona, March 26th, 2007

New portal speeds localization project management with status tracking, web uploading, and other time-saving features
milengo Inc. announced the launch of a new client portal that speeds project management for localization teams from mid-sized companies to blue-chip enterprises. Key features that simplify the localization process for clients include:
  • Project Status Tracking : to monitor completed project phases for larger projects.
  • Web Upload : to upload project files using an easy browser module.
  • Quotation & Sign-off : to view and sign-off on all outstanding quotes.
  • Access Privileges : to assign or limit project access to specific personnel.
  • Communication : to post and respond to project queries.
  • Project Storage : to store and download completed project files.
  • Financial Information : to review quotes, invoices and price lists.
The Client Portal, which is based on ]project-open[ , is part of milengo’s initiative to make the latest technology easier for day-to-day use in the localization industry. The portal features a user-friendly interface that eliminates unnecessary tutorials, time-consuming training or bulky user guides. According to milengo CEO, Roman Kotzsch, this is an important advantage.

“Over 70% of enterprise application projects fail in the implementation phase because of a design that is too complex and cumbersome for the user,” said Kotzsch. The portal was designed by engineers in milengo’s China office to provide round-the-clock access to critical localization projects and multinational teams working from Rio de Janeiro to Tokyo . With in-house design and maintenance, the portal can be customized to meet the individual needs of each customer’s unique localization workflow.

New module available: One-Time-Passwords
Barcelona, August 16th, 2006
The purpose of a one-time password (OTP) is to make it more difficult to gain unauthorized access to restricted resources, like a computer account. Traditionally static passwords can more easily be accessed by an unauthorized intruder given enough attempts and time. By constantly altering the password, as is done with a one-time password, this risk can be greatly reduced. (http://en.wikipedia.org/)

The "intranet-otp" package is used in ]project-open[ as an extension of the normal password-based authentication mechanism. OTPs allow in combination with (optional) SSL encryption for (reasonably) secure access to critical corporate resources even in untrusted environments and/or over untrusted channels.
