Technology

This section provides information to more tech savvy people who are interested in the underlying technology of ]project-open[.
Underlying Architecture

]project-open[ is build on the code that ArsDigita (meanwhile being bought by RedHat) once wrote to manage their internal operations. ArsDigita released this code under the GNU Publice License, allowing us to jumpstart our project.

Outstanding Performance and Scalability

Performance and scalability of the underlying platform have been tested in large communities of up to 250.000 users. The systems performance is estimated to be a factor of 5 better than comparable Java or .Net systems, leading to reduced overall operating costs. Medium sized organizations of up to 500 persons can be run on low-end server hardware.

Rapid Development

A short reaction time to new business needs can be crucial. In our environment we rely on only two different technologies to implement business logic: Tcl and SQL.

Tcl has a prooven track beeing -THE- scripting language for rapid development. It serves perfectly rendering content when it comes to graphical user interfaces.

Databases are making the internet dynamic. SQL ensures a standardized way of efficient and highly performant data recuperation.
