Glossary of ]po[ Terms

A glossary listing that provides definitions for the technical terminology used throughout the ]project-open[ wiki.


Category
A category bundles the "Type" and "Status" information of database objects, replacing conventional database practice by eliminating the separate tables usually associated to each object that tracks this data 

Company
A Customer or a Provider.
Implementation: Object Type: Company

[Component Bays] 
Pre-arranged locations on intranet pages where component plugins are executed.  A style sheet-esque approach to the dynamic addition of "portlets".  

Component Plugin 
HTML widgets embedded into intranet pages also known as "portlets". 

Dynamic Components
Architecture to add portlets to content pages. Dynamic components consist of two parts: "component plugins" and "component bays"

Dynamic Menus
Represent menu tabs and other dynamic links within ]po[, allowing to configure and extend the ]po[ GUI.
Implementation: Object Type: Dynamic Menus

DynViews
Define the columns of "list pages" to allow configuring and extending lists of objects.
Implementation:  Object Type: DynViews

List Page
Pages showing a list of all elements of this type contained in the system. 
Example: The Projects list page shows all Projects currently on the system

Module
A generalized collection and range of services within ]project-open[ designed to meet the demands of specific business schema      
(example: Finance, Service Management, CRM)

Object Type 
A database object representing the quantitative and qualitative aspects of discrete business items
(example Cost, Expense, Employee)

Package
The building block components which form ]project-open[, each package is a collection of SQL scripts, TCL commands, and other files that upon installation add a new paradigm of functionality to the entire ]project-open[ system. (ex. Reporting Finance, [Expense Workflow])

Office
Is a physical location of Company. One Company can have one more Offices.
